Questioning Strategies for Complex Text to Support Meeting Common Core Requirements
Esther Fusco, Estanislado S. Barrera IV, Kenneth J. Fasching-Varner
Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 4:45 PM till 5:45 PM
Effective questioning is a key component in Balanced Reading Instruction and this kind of questioning can create those "teachable moments" in the classroom. Additionally, effective comprehension and questioning strategies enable teachers to design instruction that deepens students' comprehension and builds their ability to respond to evidence based questions as suggested by the Common Core. This session will explore strategies that teachers can employ to develop inferential reasoning skills in informational and narrative text for all students, including our diverse learners. Participants will be engaged in using the strategies in content examples.
